Breakfast Blueprint

September 30th, 2009

Last time I covered some of the many benefits of eating a healthy breakfast.
Knowing that is great, but what exactly does a power packed breakfast look like?
Fist, let’s cover what DOESN’T qualify as one.
A coffee isn’t considered a complete and nutritious breakfast.
Neither is a bagel,
Or a can of pop.
Same goes for sugary, highly processed cold [...]

The Meal of Champions

September 29th, 2009

You’ve probably heard it a millions times, ‘Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.’
When you’re involved in heavy duty training, EVERY meal is important. (at least it seems that way judging by my hunger pangs) But even then, breakfast is still truly important
There are a few reasons for this.
In a previous message I [...]

Death Breath

September 28th, 2009

Ever ask anyone how to breathe when you’re lifting?
If you have, they’ve probably limited it to ‘inhale deeply at the beginning of the movement, and exhale at the sticking point.’
That’s OK info, but it’s not a complete picture.
Also, it isn’t always the case.
Recently, I was reading something by Bob Peoples. Bob was ferociously strong. He [...]

When Being Unsexy is Sexy

September 25th, 2009

I was listening to a debate about world economics on the radio the other day.
There were some interesting things being shared by the guest experts. But what really caught my ear was a ‘word on the street’ section.
They had roving reporters interviewing people all over the US, and I believe Canada.
What the people kept saying [...]

A Smashing Good Time

September 24th, 2009

80’s action flicks…
Say what you will about the plots, but these movies usually had awesome training montages.
These amazing works of celluloid art actually owed their existence to a movie from the previous decade, Rocky.
Funny how watching a person simply workout can get people so amped up.
Stallone actually gave the public a glimpse of what real [...]

Say It Like You Mean It! Part 2

September 23rd, 2009

I ended Part 1, I pointing out how wishy washy language like ‘I hope’ ‘I’ll try’ ‘maybe’ and ‘probably’ usually ends up with less than desirable results.
Why wouldn’t they, those words lack commitment.
When you say the opposite, ‘I will’ ‘I’ll do it’ ‘It will be done,’ you’re setting the stage for success.
And this goes double [...]

Say It Like You Mean It!

September 22nd, 2009

In a message from a few days back, I shared a story about a conversation I had with a friend of mine from New Zealand.
I noticed a peculiarity in the way he spoke about decisions. Before you know it, we were looking up all kinds of things and talking about the power of words, which [...]

Last Tuesday I shared a video clip that exposed a dirty secret in the supplement industry.
Today I have a video for you that’s going to blow you away with disbelief.
All I can say is, anyone involved in these  type of practices is a crok who should be treated as such.

As if the before and after [...]

Make It or Take It

September 18th, 2009

I love languages. I also believe strongly in the power of words.
Below I share a little story about a friend of mine, an interesting accent, and relearning the subtle but substantial effects words have on us.
And yes, this all applies to the gym, which I’ll also explain…
I was listening to a friend of mine talk [...]

Regardless of the program you follow, at some point progress is going to slow down.
Gains in strength and size aren’t happening at the same rate as they were previously. Fat loss bogs down. And gains in endurance can also start to sputter.
Most automatically think it has something to do with their training. And if a [...]
