By now we’ve heard it a billion zillion times…

‘Breakfast is the most important meal of the day’

It’s true, breakfast IS important…

But what do most do?

They either skip it, or go about eating a typical SAD meal…

What the heck is SAD?

It stands for ‘Standard American Diet,’ something that’s been brought up a lot lately.

And what exactly is in a SAD breakfast?

It’s usually loaded with processed meats like sausage and bacon. Has lots of dairy products like milk and butter. And let’s not forget the refined sugars and carbs found in white toast, jelly and sugary cereals.

I’m bringing this up because I recently read something by Mike Adams, aka the Health Ranger.

For those of you who don’t know, Mike’s like a reporter of sorts. He works diligently at providing high quality info on healthy living and eating.

But before you think I’m going to tell you to go out and hug a tree, listen to how Mike describes an average American breakfast…

‘A typical American breakfast, in fact, is little more than a hodge-podge of refined factory foods enhanced with toxic chemicals and artificial colors. I wouldn’t feed that stuff to an animal, much less my own children!’

mmmm…refined factory foods with a generous serving of toxic chemicals and artificial colors. OH BOY! My favorite!

In all seriousness, strength and health go hand in hand. Like ebony and ivory on a piano…(sing it Stevie and Paulie!)

(those were the days of quality videos…)

Many Iron Game greats wrote about this. They knew healthy living was VITAL to maximizing their strength.

But that was during the time of ‘Physical Culture’ which has now been replaced with chemically bloated muscles and spandex…

Mainstream fitness and ‘hardcore’ bodybuilding have forgotten about this truth. That’s why I steer clear of the muscle comics, unless I’m looking for a laugh…

Now, I know that there are some really funky foods in the health food stores, and even funkier people. But I promise, it’s worth braving them

If you’re able to replace one food with something that makes you more energetic, what would that mean?

Replacing an ‘unhealthy’ food with something ‘healthy’ should make you ‘healthier.’ But the results are compounded when you plug training into the equation…

The more energy you have, the more intensity you can bring to your training. Greater health should lead to recovering faster from your workout, too.

Taking the above into consideration, being healthier should allow you to get that much more from your training.

And I don’t know about you, but the stronger and better conditioned I am, the more ‘resilient’ I am in all aspects of life.

Just an observation on my part. It made me brave the oddballs at the local health food store.

Oh, one last thing. Just a little ‘warning’…

If conversing with the ‘locals’ at the health shop leads to you apologizing to your lawn every time you cut it, you’ve probably taken things a little too far…
