The Magic of Squats

It’s hard to believe, but there was a time when squats didn’t exist…

In the early days of weight lifting, mustached strongmen mainly focused on locking out weights overhead.

An example of this is the all but extinct ‘Bent Press’ and the ‘Two Hands Anyhow’

Some guys developed scary strength using these early exercises. I’m talking about being able to put over 300 lbs overhead with one hand…

Eventually, some genius came up with the idea of doing squats with weights.

Unfortunately, that great idea was accompanied by a brain fart, doing them on the balls of the feet. This obviously limited the amount of weight one could use.

Squatting form stayed like this until the turn of the 20th century. That’s when Milo Steinborn appeared on the scene…

Milo is accredited with single handedly popularized flat footed squats, AKA ‘The Deep Knee Bend.’ And since he could squat 500lbs, I don’t think it took much convincing…

Once the flat footed squat caught on, there was a revolution in size and strength in the Iron game…

At a time when a 200 pound man was considered a ‘big guy,’ sets of 20 rep squats, the heart of the ‘Milk and Squat’ routine, turned men like Joseph C Hise into 300 pound mass monsters

In the 1950’s, Rep Park built up the strength to handle over 600lbs in the squat, He also used the 20 rep squat routine, adding over 20 lbs of muscle to his frame within a few short weeks. Park eventually became one of the strongest and best developed bodybuilders of all time.

By the 1960’s, Paul Anderson was squatting with over 1000lbs! Anderson became an Olympic Weightlifting champion, and is said to be the Strongest Man to have ever lived…

The success of these Supermen can be traced back to heavy squatting. And they’re not the only ones who were transformed by this exercise…

The results gained from squatting may be miraculous, but don’t confuse it for some magic pill…

To get results like Hise, Park and Anderson, you need to be willing to bust your butt…

That means digging deep into your soul, and attacking this exercise with everything you got.

This might scare some people off, but not those who truly desire might and muscle…

Combine squats with adequate sleep and a muscle gaining meal plan, like the ones shown in the BodyDesign Nutrition System, and YOU WILL GAIN STRENGTH AND SIZE, even if you’re a so called hard gainer…
