You’ve heard of me refer to muscle magazines as ‘Muscle Comics.’

I picked this up from Brooks Kubik who has a few opinions of his own on this subject. You should check him out over at http://www.BrooksKubik.com Great guy with fantastic information.

The reason I call them ‘Comics,’ is because of the BS found within their pages. I’ll go into more detail another time.

For now, check out the following facts. Then ask yourself if that’s the ‘source’ you want to get your training advice from.

Here we go:

Weider Publications started run by Joe Weider, the man responsible for popularizing bodybuilding as we know it today. Joe started his first magazines back in the 1940’s.

The Weider brothers (Joe and Ben) also started the International Federation of Bodybuilders (IFBB), and are the one’s behind the pinnacle of muscle freakdom, the annual Mr. Olympia contest.

Joe also gave Arnold his start in America, featuring the Austrian Oak heavily in his magazines.

Some of the publications that fall under the Weider umbrella:

-Fit Pregnancy Magazine
-Flex Magazine
-Living Fit Magazine
-Men’s Fitness Magazine
-Muscle & Fitness Magazine
-Muscle & Fitness Hers Magazine
-Natural Health Magazine
-Shape Magazine

Now here’s the interesting part…

American Media bought Weider Publications in 2003

American Media is the leading publisher of weekly tabloid newspapers in the United States.

American Media publications include the National Enquirer and the Star, which are distributed mainly in supermarkets and focus on gossip and sensational personal stories rather than conventional news coverage.

When I came across this, I burst out with laughter. At least the comics are good for something. And now I understand how the inflated claims in the magazine and ads get approved.

Now, you can follow the advice from a magazine owned by what’s essentially a tabloid company. And let’s not forget that they make money from stories with headlines like…

‘Elvis Seen in the North Pole – Santa Claus Worried about Mrs. Claus’

‘I gave birth to a 587 pound Dinosaur.’

‘Alien Leader Falls in Love with an Earth Woman – An Intergalactic Love Story’

‘Big Foot Spotted in Las Vega – Looking to Marry High School Sweetheart at Drive Thru Chapel’

Or, do some searching to find quality advice, like you find in my emails and on my blog, and follow the type of advice that’ll actually get you what you want, a superhero body and the strength and performance to match.

Not a difficult decision, is it?

PS: I don’t know about Aliens and Dinosaurs, but if we expect to get the most from your training, you need to follow a super nutrition meal plan…
