For the Love of it


Molding phenomenal levels of might and muscle doesn’t happen overnight.

It doesn’t happen in a few weeks or months either.

You can make some fantastic progress quickly with the proper training and nutrition. But if you want truly spectacular results, you need to be committed for the long haul.

Most aren’t willing to do it. And who knows why. It could be laziness, a lack of desire, a fear of hard work, or being fooled into thinking they ‘can’t’ do it because of poor genetics or some other bs.

But those who do stick with it reap the rewards. Increased confidence. Improved health. A body that turns heads. Steel bending strength. And an admiration of the discipline and sacrifice people subconsciously know it takes to ‘earn it.’

It’s obvious you need a special mindset to train for the long haul. A special drive of some sorts.

But what is it?

The attention you get from others? Winning competitions? The feeling you get when you hoist an ‘unmovable’ object. The satisfaction of seeing the results in the mirror? Or the new found attention from the opposite sex?

One or more of those may motivate some. But I think you need something else to keep you going back, year after year, grueling workout after grueling workout.

And I believe it can be found in the following words; spoken by the legendary Reg Park. He describes an epiphany he had after wining the top prize in the bodybuilding world, the Mr. Universe title.

‘As with each of the other two occasions when I won the title I was a little flat emotion wise after being announced the winner, and I REALIZED THAT THE EXCITEMENT WAS NOT IN WINNING BUT IN TRAINING TO WIN.’

Whether he realizes it or not, Reg has given us some of the best training advice one can give. A secret of sorts we can all benefit from.

So, ask yourself, what are you training for?
