You may have heard your parents or grandparents say ‘things were simpler back in the good old days.’

And it’s true…

There were only 3 channels on the teevee.

Playing with friends required little more than a ball, maybe a bat and glove. No need for high speed internet or a super computer.

Phones had wires attached to them.

If you wanted to get away form it all, you hopped into your car and took off for the afternoon. And there was no way for anyone to ‘get in touch’ with you.

Life sure was simpler back then, and so was working out.

Training mainly consisted of wrapping your hands around a barbell; and lifting that sucker diligently and intelligently. And all the while you strived to slap more iron on the bar.

Nutrition wasn’t much different either.

You ate, and you ate well. No need to worry about whether or not your sustenance would kill you.

It was fresh and healthy vegetables, fruits and meats, little to no man made frankenfoods. And no relying on miracle supplements to do the work for you.

Ahhh, but the critics claim we have ’scientific’ training and nutrition nowadays. Cutting edge ‘methodologies’ and state of the art equipment. We sure do…

If we have all of this fancy schmancy stuff and knowledge, then why in the heck is your average trainee basically weaker than your average non trainee from ‘back in the day’?

In my opinion, all of these scientific studies and schmexperts are playing catch up. We essentially had it all figured out over 100 years ago.

Then things started to get complicated…I mean our ‘options’ increased.

There are lifting records from back then that still stand. Take away the support gear of many of today’s top lifters today, and they’re barely lifting much more than the Iron Legends of yestercentury.

Oh, and back then, it was steroid free. Nowadays, it seems even chess players are on the sauce. Modern pro bodybuilders have enough ‘pharmaceuticals’ coursing through their veins to supply a small country.

Not only were they strong, they looked phenomenal too. Hack, Ross, Eiferman, Arco, Park, Eder, Grimek, Sansone, and many more were living sculptures.

How’d they train?

Simple.

Abbreviated, hard work, and focus on the major compound movements. Once you’ve got that under control, add some ‘options’ to spice things up and build all around strength, endurance, flexibility, athleticism, and health.

And nutrition doesn’t need to be complicated either. Depending on your size and activity level, 3 or 4 small to moderate sized meals spread out during the day with a few snacks or shakes in between. This is a solid place to start.

If you want more details, and would like to take your gains and performance to the next level, grab a copy of the BodyDesign Nutritional System It lays everything out in a step-by-step method. It designed so you can apply it easily and quickly, allowing you to get the most from your training.

Do yourself a favor. If you want real strength and health, ditch the muscle comics.

Instead, start training the way the Legends did. Back before steroids and ‘form over function’ thinking sent the train off the tracks.

Once you do, get ready for a genetic ‘upgrade.’
